The Community Engagement Team works to foster community within the walls of UTA Libraries through the events it puts on throughout the academic year.

Yash Tobre, who serves as a student assistant, is one of several people who create these unique student experiences. His work in the library involves helping out and organizing events. These events include Doggy Days, Maverick Kitchen and the Kahoot Trivia Hour.

"I have been fortunate to have the guidance and support of my supervisors Heather Claney, Cal Latour and Milaun Murry," Yash said. "They have helped me to build confidence and encouraged me to embrace new challenges."

Originally from Maharashtra, India, Yash is pursuing a master's degree in data science at UTA.

After completing a bachelor's in electronics engineering in India at just 21 years old, Yash moved to the United States, leaving behind his family for the first time. This decision marked the beginning of his journey.

"I love helping people, and my fascination with new cultures started at an early age, and it inspired me to move across continents," Yash said.

Outside of his studies at UTA and his job at the library, Yash shares his musical talents on his YouTube and Instagram channels, where he plays the guitar singing some soulful melodies.

He noted that he is a Swiftie and celebrates the music of Taylor Swift, taking inspiration from her artistry.

Alongside his musical endeavors, Yash finds solace in reading and expresses his creativity through digital art and writing. These creative outlets have become integral to his identity, allowing him to express himself and connect with others.

Yash stated that he has learned a lot in his journey from India to the United States. He has not only embraced new cultures, but each new encounter offered him an opportunity to learn from amazing people, creating bonds and memories.

We here at UTA Libraries are happy to have Yash as a team member and look forward to seeing him thrive on his academic journey.
