UTA ResearchCommons - You Need to Know

UTA ResearchCommons is our UTA’s institutional repository to showcase research outputs or scholarly works produced by the UTA community. UTA ResearchCommons is a not-for-profit service for our academic authors providing Open Access to the full-text of their publications.Through UTA ResearchCommons, the UTA authors instantly benefit from Search Engine Optimization (SEO) which is a key priority for discoverability. Discoverability is the most important factor to expand the visibility of their scholarly works and to increase the impact of their scholarly works. UTA ResearchCommons presents peer-reviewed journal articles, conference presentation materials, technical reports, OER materials, theses and dissertations, and other creative works. UTA ResearchCommons is a powerful vehicle for sharing information and knowledge, showcasing the university’s accomplishments online. 

Digital Publishing services include providing not only the UTA faculty, but also Librarians, Archivists, and library staff members with author profile sites in UTA ResearchCommons. You are invited to contribute your scholarly works to UTA ResearchCommons! Here is  an example of the profile site: Michael Barera, University and Labor Archivist

ResearchCommons profile sites

Having your own profile site in UTA ResearchCommons is a great opportunity to build or enhance your online presence. Also, this is a great way to attract your collaborators, future peers and students because your works can be more searchable and discoverable. 

Every item deposited in UTA ResearchCommons is given a stable URL, which can allow you to easily share links to documents, such as your resume/CV, class syllabi, social media, etc.

A metrics visualization tool, PlumX, has been embedded into UTA ResearchCommons, which provides you with the number of downloads and views of your works.

Our services also include checking author rights and permissions for your journal articles to determine whether they are able to be deposited in UTA ResearchCommons, and if so, what version of your articles can be deposited based on the publishers’ copyright and author rights policies.

UTA ResearchCommons provides you a place where you can collect, manage, preserve, and disseminate your scholarly works online. Also, allowing Open Access to your work enhances your professional visibility.
