The University of Texas at Arlington Libraries is gearing up for three events to kick off the fall 2021 semester as part of the Maverick Stampede.

“We are more excited than ever to welcome students to Maverick Country,” said Rebecca Bichel, dean of UTA Libraries. “The events we’re offering as part of the Maverick Stampede should set the stage for all we have planned throughout the semester, and we hope that students will be inspired to join us in the variety of activities our staff have been working hard to cultivate for them.”

Make Over Your Space is the perfect event to kick off the semester. The Libraries welcomes students into the FabLab on September 2 from 11 AM to 3 PM to design pillows, make art, and more to customize their spaces. This is also a great opportunity to explore the FabLab’s equipment and services.

The Libraries Ren Faire invites Mavericks to travel back in time to an era of magic and chivalry. The event offers themed photo opportunities, cooking and blacksmithing demonstrations, games, a community mural, and more. Students are invited to enter the faire on September 2 from 5 to 8 PM in the Central Library Mall.

Doggy Days are making a comeback! Students can spend time with licensed therapy dogs and set the tone for the rest of their semester on September 8 from 12 to 2 PM in front of Central Library. In the event of inclement weather, it will be moved to the sixth floor Parlor. Interested participants should register for a time slot ahead of the event to guarantee a chance to mingle with their favorite pup.

Experiential Learning Librarian Milaun Murry can’t wait to see students new and familiar at Libraries events again.

“We have spent all summer strategizing and anticipating this upcoming semester,” Murry said. “Our goal is for users to discover thought-provoking events that allow them to learn from hands-on experiences they can’t get anywhere else.”

Mavericks can learn more about these and other Libraries events on the Libraries website.
