Magruder Receives UTA CARES Adoption Stipend
Ms. Karen Magruder was awarded a UTA CARES Adoption Stipend for her project, “Open Education Resources for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.” Magruder, who is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the School of Social Work, will curate a reading list of zero-cost course materials to redesign the Cognitive Behavioral Interventions (SOCW 5356) course.
Magruder’s project replaces an outdated textbook published in 2006 and will save UTA students enrolled in the course approximately $1,400 in Fall 2022. Magruder had previously been awarded an Adoption Stipend in 2020 to redevelop Green Social Work (SOCW 5392) using zero-cost materials.
The UTA CARES Grant Program, managed by UTA Libraries, helps educators adopt and create open educational resources (OER), which are free course materials that are licensed so others can revise and reuse the content.
