Honoree's Remarks
This book, whose opening words are: “quantum field theory arose out of our need to describe the ephemeral nature of life,” had a profound effect on me as a graduate student. For the first time I could glimpse the quantum fields that give the Universe substance as reality rather than abstraction. May it carry many future students along the same path integral.
