Dr. Jackie L. Michaels

I chose this book and translation because it has been and continues to be instrumental in my life, providing Truth to guide me through summit and valley seasons of life. This book is given to the University of Texas at Arlington Library for seekers of Truth to gain wisdom and understanding, applying the knowledge contained within its pages to every facet of life. The Bible is a beautiful narration of the history of humankind, offering insight into covenantal promises, timeless proverbs to remember and hold fast to when persevering through adversity, and the answer to where Hope is found.

I dedicate this book to my daughter, mother, and father: Faith Anugrah Michael, Indu Bala Lall and Yunatan Binda Lall respectively; each of them has been a gentle teacher in my life. Born and raised in a modest, working-class family in India, my parents demonstrated immense wisdom in the values they lived by and taught me. As a first-generation immigrant in America and the first one in my family to attend college, I achieved my goals in part due to these guiding priceless principles. The Bible has been paramount to my success, serving as a critical resource while striving for every achievement and accomplishment of every milestone.

This book does an excellent job of helping the reader realize what is essential in one’s life and to find purpose and balance throughout the journey. I echo Dr. Charles C. Ryrie, “The Bible is the greatest of all books; to study it is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand the highest of goals”.

The Bible is near and dear to me as it reminds me of my family, my purpose, and essential strategies employed throughout my life. The numerous pearls of wisdom are simple, yet meaningful and more importantly, eternally impactful. I hope and pray they serve you well and bless you as they have blessed me.
