I chose this book because it provides insights into the unique historical and social background on India’s northeast region where I am from. This scholarly book, based on years of research on the northeastern region of India, provides context for the diversity of religion, culture, ethnicities, and norms as well as the passionate calls for identity and recognition by the central administration. This book is appealing to people that enjoy learning about different places and their socio-cultural makeup and is also of interest for social scientists trying to understand politics and administration. I hope this book will increase awareness about the rich culture and unique heritage of the northeast region of India.
