Honoree's Remarks
In various courses I teach in the Department of Communication, I discuss the Relational Dialectics Theory as it is relevant to us now than ever. This perspective allows us to understand the messiness and unpredictability of human relationships. It encourages us to view communication as constituting human relationships. Through thoughtful dialogue/communication we can create and sustain all kinds of relationships despite disagreeing and having different viewpoints.
