Honoree's Remarks

Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to be like my older brother, Howard Rambsy II. It should come as no surprise that I followed in his footsteps to become a professor of literature. For many years in graduate school and even still as a professor, I’ve relied on my brother for advice as I navigate academia. During my time at UTA, my brother and I have even collaborated professionally. I'm looking forward to many more exciting opportunities with him.

Upon getting tenure, I can’t think of a more fitting tribute than having a copy of my brother’s latest book in UTA’s library. Howard has inspired me with his worth ethic and content of his book. I even teach excerpts from it in my classes at UTA. We have digital access at UTA, but I'd be thrilled if our library had a hard copy. This book and the author are very special to me. And I’m honored that UTA has chosen to celebrate this milestone in this manner.
