Honoree's Remarks

This treatment on population genetics was written by two giants in the field, Motoo Kimura and Tomoko Ohta. Their work has helped lay the foundation for research in molecular evolution, and with Ohta’s 'Nearly Neutral Theory of Molecular Evolution', revolutionized how we think genes evolve. Importantly, the theory that Kimura and Ohta established with their work is accessible to empirical research such as that conducted in my lab, and as a result we are better able to investigate and understand the genomic basis of reptile and amphibian diversity all over the world.
