Honoree's Remarks

Charles Darwin’s the Origin of Species is a notoriously challenging book to read. I have therefore chosen the “The Origin then and now’ by David Reznick because it is a highly accessible and modern interpretation of the Darwin’s Origin of Species. In this book, Reznick considers the historical context of the Origin of Species but uses examples from modern science to convey to the reader it’s everlasting timeliness and importance. David Reznick also served as my PhD advisor and he wrote this book while I was a student in his lab. As a result, I was a firsthand witness to the development of this book. Plus, David has certainly had an impact on helping me get to where I am at today. I am therefore very excited to have this book added to the permanent collection.
