Dr. Randy Hodson was a critical mentor to me. I served as his research assistant, he served on my dissertation committee, and we co-authored three articles together. As a member of Ohio State’s Academy of Teaching, the recipient of numerous research awards from The Ohio State University and the American Sociological Association, and a genuinely good and caring person, Randy was everything I aspired to be. We lost him to cancer in 2015, but he has left a lasting legacy because of his generous investment in his students.
