Moving to Mars is a documentary film that highlights the experiences of two Karen families as they leave a refugee camp in Thailand to resettle in Great Britain. The film depicts the struggles faced by refugee families as they confront unfamiliar languages, cultural norms and expectations that accompany resettlement. I have had the amazing opportunity to work with the Karen people in my research as well as in my family life, and I continue to be inspired by their cheerfulness in the face of adversity and their determination to succeed in their new homes.
