Honoree's Remarks
It might seem strange that as a mass communication scholar I would select a story about an encounter between a Cuban-American feminist anthropologist and a Mexican street peddler - an anthology book. Yet the book has had a profound impact on me. I read it while working on my doctoral degree, in a feminist methodology course. It has guided me in terms of how I not only go about conducting feminist research but also how I teach and interact with my students.
