Dr.Elten Briggs

My wife, Andrena, and I were wed the same year that I began here at UTA (2006). Though we had known each other for quite some time before getting married, we faced some unexpected challenges as we began the process of merging our lives together. We received Love and Respect as a wedding gift, and were soon amazed at how incredibly well the concepts contained therein related to our relationship. Little did I know at the time, as a naive male, how vitally important our communication and agreement would be as I worked towards tenure. The book's biblically inspired perspectives and strategies helped us to grow closer to one another and better support each other as we experienced a number of life transitions, such as career changes, moving into our first house, and having children. We are now on our fourth reading of the book, partly because we are fairly slow learners, but also because we have found great reward in facilitating discussion groups centered on the book's principles. Love and Respect has been a true blessing for me during this phase of my career and my life.
