Honoree's Remarks

If you are curious of what a Nobel Prize winner thinks of a subject as lame as elasticity, you will not be disappointed. Unlike every other elasticity book, which begins with forces and reactions this one unveils the entire subject from a single fundamental principle of minimum energy required for any action in nature. I read this book very early in college and it has affected my way of thinking and approach to solving problems.
