Honoree's Remarks
It is a winner of the 1998 PEN/Albrand Prize for memoir and a New York Times Notable Book. It tells the story of how an American boy growing up in New Jersey uncovers the heritage of his Armenian ancestry. The book touched my heart when I read it the first time, and all of my friends who read it upon my recommendation loved it too. Especially the ones who are coming from a first or second generation immigrant families.
