Honoree's Remarks

I chose it because the stories and vignettes in the book remind me of why I am passionate about what I do. The book is a collection of stories about the patients and families served by geriatric physicians and nurse practitioners. The book accurately illustrates the skills and compassion required to deal with multimorbid older adults and their families who are often multigenerational and multicultural. These glimpses of practical reality are essential for future nurses so that they have an idea of not only the cognitive skills, but also the compassion and problem solving skills that will be required of them as our graduates caring for vulnerable older adults.
