Honoree's Remarks
I chose this book because it is an important guide to the symbolism of alchemy, which refers to the process of the transformation of the psyche. My recent book Archetypes from Underground investigates similar patterns in the works of Dostoevsky, while my current research looks at other Russian writers who were interested in alchemy and Western esoteric traditions broadly speaking.
