I selected this book to honor Gordon Bennett. Gordon has been a hydrogeologist for more than 50 years, including 30 years with the U.S. Geological Survey. At the USGS he was Chief of the Ground Water Branch, and then Assistant Chief of the Water Resources Division, charged to oversee all USGS hydrologic research programs. I came to know Gordon in early 2009, and have been extremely grateful for his invaluable help in the hydrogeology program at UTA. Gordon has contributed countless hours in graduate student supervision, manuscript revision, and occasional guest lectures in the Hydrogeology class.
